Dr. James R. Stoner Jr.

Dr. James Stoner, a member of the National Council on the Humanities, received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and specializes in political theory, English common law, and American constitutionalism. He also serves as the Pre-Law Advisor.
Some of his recent publications include: "Common-Law Liberty: Rethinking American Constitutionalism”, "The New Constitutionalism of Publius” (both 2003), and also "Is Tradition Activist? The Common Law of the Family in the Liberal Constitutionalist World” (2002).
Dr. Stoner currently teaches courses on Fundamental Issues of Politics, American Constitutional Law and American Political Thought as well as the History of Political Theory at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. In 2002-2003 he was a Visiting Fellow at The James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, Department of Politics, Princeton University.
