Mgr. Michaela Freiova
Mgr. Freiova was active in the
Catholic dissident movement
in communist Czech Republic.
Her family was persecuted for
participating in the dissemination
of samizdat.
After the fall of the communist
regime she was appointed a Government
Commissioner for Refugees. She
also served as a member of the
Federal Parliament of post-communist
Czechoslovakia.
She is a widely recognized
lecturer as well as a writer
on religion, family and women´s
issues in the Czech and Slovak
media.
In 1994 she joined the recently
founded Civic Institute and
ran the Family Values Program
there for more than ten years.
The program initiated a series
of World Congresses of Families,
beginning in Prague in March
1997.
In 2003 Mgr. Freiovastarted
an internet news service Res
Claritatis, the only online
news magazine in the fields
of religion, society and politics
in the Czech language.
In 2005 it started to be published
also in printed form. She obtained
her M.A. at Charles University
in Comparative Religion.
