Dr. Jan A. Aertsen
Dr. Aertsen is the director
of the Thomas Institute in Cologne
(Germany), which he founded
in 1994 .
Of Dutch origin, Dr. Aertsen
has become one of Europe's leading
authorities in medieval philosophy,
with a special expertise in
the field of metaphysics. His
special interests in this field
are the history of medieval
metaphysics and the philosophy
of Thomas Aquinas and Meister
Eckhart.
Since 1999 he has also been
a visiting director at l'Ecole
Practique des Hautes Etudes
in Paris, in addition to giving
courses at universities in Louvain,
Toronto and Köln.
In 1998 he gave the Dietrich
von Hildebrand Memorial Lectures
at Fordham University in New
York (USA).
